Students from the Rwanda Coding Academy (RCA) have demonstrated Rwanda’s rising status in global technology by securing a third-place finish at the 16th e-ICON World Contest held in South Korea.

Representing Rwanda, Bruce Nibeza M. and Chaste Ganza M. collaborated in a joint global team with South Korea's Daejeon Daeshin High School—represented by Kim S. and Song R.. Together, the cross-cultural team designed and developed ReNew. 

"ReNew": Collaborative Innovation Across Borders

The e-ICON (e-Learning International Contest of Outstanding New Tech) World Contest pairs South Korean high school tech enthusiasts with top international talent to co-create mobile learning applications and websites.

Under the project title ReNew, the joint Rwandan-Korean team combined technical expertise in software engineering, user-centric design, and front-end development. Over an intensive development cycle, the team engineered a robust mobile application designed to renew and transform access to quality educational tools.

"Working alongside our partners from Daejeon Daeshin High School showed how technology transcends geographical boundaries," said the RCA duo. "The rigorous engineering background we received at RCA gave us the technical depth and problem-solving mindset to build 'ReNew' and compete at an elite level."

This accomplishment marks the second time Rwanda Coding Academy has shone on the e-ICON stage, building on the institution's growing track record of international accolades and proving that RCA's excellence is a consistent standard rather than a one-time achievement.
